Traffic engineering advice for a $83M civic precinct

Traffic engineering advice for Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct

The Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct represents a significant milestone in the region’s transformation strategy. This $83 million development consolidates Council operations from 11 separate buildings into a modern, integrated facility that serves as a new landmark in the heart of Queanbeyan.

The ambitious project features two towers (3 and 5 storeys) housing Council and NSW Government administration spaces, commercial areas, community facilities, a public library, and cultural spaces. Additional features include a public basement with over 100 parking spaces, a rooftop garden, and a gallery connecting to the existing Bicentennial Hall and Q Theatre.

ptc. was engaged by ADCO Constructions to provide traffic engineering expertise from construction through to project finalisation. Our team addressed the unique challenges of integrating a major civic facility into Queanbeyan’s existing urban infrastructure while maintaining accessibility and traffic flow.

We provided detailed design advice for vehicular access, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, particularly the AS2890 suite. Our parking and circulation arrangements were carefully planned to accommodate the diverse needs of Council staff, government workers, and public visitors.

Throughout the construction, we managed traffic impacts to minimise disruption to the surrounding CBD area. Our comprehensive approach included obtaining necessary certifications and responding to technical queries as they arose, ensuring the project met all regulatory requirements.
