Traffic and civil engineering for regional healthcare infrastructure

The Shoalhaven Hospital redevelopment represents a significant healthcare infrastructure investment for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the project includes a new 7-storey acute services building featuring emergency and intensive care departments, modern operating theatres, and specialised inpatient units. The development also encompasses the renovation of existing structures and construction of the Shoalhaven Community Preschool facility on the hospital site.

ptc. was engaged by multiple stakeholders throughout this major healthcare project, working with both NSW Health Infrastructure and Meinhardt-Bonacci to deliver traffic and civil engineering services across different project phases.

Our traffic team conducted a parking demand assessment for the redevelopment, applying our experience with healthcare facilities to inform appropriate parking provision. Our civil engineers delivered stormwater assessment and design services, alongside detailed civil design for the Community Preschool component of the redevelopment.

We prepared the Civil Works for State Significant Development Application SEARS Conditions Report and the Structural and Civil Design Report, supporting the Community Preschool project through its Design Development stage. Our experience across hospitals and healthcare facilities enables us to understand the operational characteristics that inform effective design solutions.
