Civil engineering expertise supports health precinct expansion in Randwick

The UNSW Health Translation Hub is set to revolutionise healthcare delivery and research in NSW. This cutting-edge facility will seamlessly integrate health education, training, and research with acute healthcare services, creating a unique environment that directly benefits patients, carers, and the broader community.

Strategically positioned within the expanding Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, the Hub sits adjacent to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, forming part of a world-class healthcare ecosystem alongside the new Acute Services Building under construction.

ptc. was engaged by Hansen Yuncken and UNSW to deliver civil engineering solutions for this transformative project. Our engagement began after the State Significant Development Application approval and spans multiple critical phases through to project completion.

We tackled complex technical challenges including advanced earthworks modelling and documentation, while developing stormwater management systems that address both water quantity and quality requirements. Our team designed robust pavement solutions and site grading systems, conducted thorough flood risk assessments, and created a detailed Flood Emergency Response Plan. A particularly challenging aspect involved designing public domain works that seamlessly interface with the adjacent Sydney Children’s Hospital and Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, ensuring operational continuity across the healthcare precinct.
