Remember the Jetsons?

We complain about traffic snarls. We complain about transport links. We complain about airport processing queues. Well, it seems the creators of the imagined “Horizon System” had all this in mind when they submitted their winning entry to the Glasgow School of Art creative competition, offering a vision of the future of aviation.

Watch their short movie trailer and you will be introduced to the ‘new dawn of transport’, where transport links are timed precisely, airport queues are a thing of the past, and more time is allowed for browsing augmented reality shopping malls and enjoying the views from welcoming hospitality lounges.

Whether seamless international aviation is 37 years away or something for the next century or beyond, we’re not sure. But it is nice to lose ourselves in the world that Hanna-Barbera imagined in the 1960s, and hope that our future could be just as sophisticated.

Thanks to Mihira Bodaragama, our CAD Technician, for unearthing this glimpse into our future!
