Is hybrid-dedicated parking going too far?



The increasing variety of dedicated car parking spaces in some shopping centres has
sparked a debate recently, with bays being designated for use by such diverse
customers as hybrid cars, L platers and mothers with prams, in addition to the
mandatory disabled spaces.

The debate rages the strongest over the hybrid car spaces, and whether owners of
these vehicles should receive special treatment. However, this is something we
are likely to be seeing more of in the future as recharging stations for
electric vehicles become installed in car parks which would require special
areas being allocated to these “special” customers. Channel 7’s network program
