Airport car parking prices to be reviewed

The Australian Government has announced a Productivity Commission inquiry into the economic regulation of major airports. The inquiry,
which will look at airport pricing, investment and services, was due to begin
in 2012.

But findings of a recent review by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has prompted the government to act more
quickly, asking the Productivity Commission to include a review of land
transport facilities to and from airports.

A key part of the review will investigate the cost and quality of car parking and the extent to which airports can raise charges by
controlling other land access to terminals.
It will
also look into the adequacy of present arrangements and controls for planning
and operating land transport links to airports.

We will keep you posted as more information becomes
available.
